Name: Em Thomas
Occupation: english / writer student
Tell us about yourself!: Lover of laughter, horses, photographs, signed books and natural history.
What is your definition of what a “wild woman” is?: A wild woman is a free woman. A woman who has managed to overcome societies grip and stigma. A woman who has emerged true to herself as she is meant to be.
How would you describe your life was like before starting your journey of being a wild woman?: My life was very dark, very lonely and in all honesty... very wrong. I was never a part of anything, and never felt as if I belonged anywhere.
What were your biggest insecurities before engaging your inner wild woman?: My sexuality and body. I knew from a young age that I was attracted to woman, psychologically, spiritually, and sexually. But today, same sex relationships are looked down upon and are viewed as wrong. So I hid that part of myself, I dug a hole and stayed there for years. Also while growing up, I became aware of how "important" a "perfect" body was. I was not perfect. I was curved where most girls where flat and toned. I was short and stocky, all of the pretty girls were tall and lean. I was odd man out and it only made my life more lonely and closed off.
What is your life like now that you are actively engaging your inner wild woman?: It is still hard. There are days where I still have trouble accepting who I am and who I am supposed to be. Society still has its evil grip in me and sometimes its almost impossible to look at myself and not judge based on what we are told beauty is and who I am. But then there are days where I know I am on the right path, I know I am being true to myself and I am free to love how I am supposed to love and I realize I am beautiful, in every way. Those days are rare but they are increasing.
What are your five most favorite aspects of yourself as a wild woman?: intuition- I am slowing accepting my intuitions as the right direction for my life.
humor- there is nothing better than a good laugh and to make someone laugh
love- a free love is a deep raw love, I can not explain it, but it is so real.
acceptance- I am learning to accept myself for who I am, and I am starting by accepting others for who they are.
beauty- It took a long time, and sometimes I still have trouble believing it, but I can look in the mirror and tell myself that I am beautiful both inside and out.
What was the biggest realization, experience, or transformation that most helped you to start unleashing and embracing your wild feminine nature?: I realized it when my intuitions came true, and my dreams materialized. We all have gifts, learning to accept mine was a total transformation.
What is your favorite part of expressing your wild feminine nature?: The euphoria of being exactly where I am meant to be at that exact moment in time, like it was just for me.
When do you feel the wildest?: I am my most wild when I am with my horses, and with my lover.
Why did you decide to participate in Wild Women Unveiled.: I participated to build my confidence and maybe give a bit of confidence to other women.
What is your message to other women out there who are just beginning their journey as a wild woman, or haven’t started yet but feel the call of the wild woman speaking to their soul?: The best advice I can give is to trust yourself. Your body, mind and soul all talk, and if you listen, your possibilities are endless.
